Rea Brook Valley
Up Sutton Meole Brace Abbey

Welcome to the Rea Brook Valley

The Rea Brook Valley is the largest, most visited Countryside Heritage Site managed by the Shrewsbury Countryside Unit. Its status as a Local Nature Reserve is national recognition of its importance as a haven for wildlife and a place for people to enjoy. The Valley is a green corridor from the open countryside right into the heart of the town. Its landscape has been shaped over centuries by the lives of monks, millers and farmers and continues to be managed to conserve its wealth of wildlife and provide opportunities for quiet recreation.

The Valley is divided into three areas for walk details: "Exploring the Rea Brook Valley in Sutton" and "The Rea Brook Valley in Meole Brace" give historical and wildlife notes, and ideas on paths you can walk in that part of the Valley. "A Walk from the Abbey" describes a short, circular way marked walk from the Abbey and is best for visitors to the town looking for a brief exploration.
